Canada DSL

Canada has now finalized the screening assessments of 869 substances.

 The Canadian government has carried out various screenings of the substances on the Domestic Substances List (DSL).  With over 869 substances evaluated, 600 of them were unlikely to result in concern under the current use of the substances.

However, 39 of the substances were seen to have properties that could cause concern for certain human and environmental hazards. The remaining 257 substances were required further assessment.

The assessment found:

  • 40 of the 257 substances were identified for both human and environmental considerations;
  • 18 substances for ecological considerations only; and
  • 199 substances for human health considerations only.

These screenings of the substances help to identify the substances that need further evaluation because of their potential to cause to harm the environment and human health.

Testimonial

I am very satisfied with the work provided by Nexreg. The work has been through, timely and reasonable. Additionally, both Mike Harvey and Nazifa Beganovic are very knowledgeable. Mike and Nazifa's efforts have been an essential part of getting our MSDS program on track and positioned for the Global Harmonized System.
