On July 6, 2012, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking proposing a Maximum Allowable Dose Level (MADL) for the chemical sulfur dioxide and amending Title 27, California Code of Regulations, section 25805(b). A public comment period was provided from July 6 to August 20, 2012. The Notice stated that a public hearing would be held on request. No request for a public hearing was received by OEHHA. One written comment was received by OEHHA during the original 45-day comment period. On March 22, 2013, OEHHA issued a Notice of Revision of Proposed Specific Regulatory Level and Augmentation of Record for Proposed Regulation. A second public comment period was provided from March 22 to May 6, 2013. One written comment on the modified proposed level was received by OEHHA.
The Office of Administrative Law approved the adoption of the MADL for sulfur dioxide and the amendment to Title 27, California Code of Regulations, section 25805(b), on July 11, 2013. The regulation was filed with the Secretary of State on July 11, 2013 and will become effective October 1, 2013.
