Russian-language documentation is generally expected for domestic supply and regulatory review.
Consumer Label Requirements
Consumer chemical labels in Russia should be reviewed against the applicable product category and technical regulation. For hazardous chemical products, warning labelling should follow GOST 31340 principles, including product identification, hazard communication elements, precautionary information, and supplier/manufacturer details. Sector-specific rules may apply to household chemicals, cosmetics, disinfectants, pesticides, aerosols, and other consumer products, so a GOST-only review may not be sufficient for market placement.
Workplace Label Requirements
Workplace chemical labels and safety passports should provide enough information for safe storage, handling, exposure control, emergency response, and disposal. Employers should ensure that Russian-language safety information is available to workers and that containers remain identifiable. Hazard communication should be consistent across the safety passport, warning label, transport classification, and any applicable occupational safety instructions.
