This past weekend, members from the Nexreg team had the privilege to attend the 33rd Annual Southern Aerosol Technical Association (SATA) technical conference. We had the chance to meet a lot of new members, and reacquaint with some old friends. This year’s conference was in the beautiful location of Destin Florida at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa. The weather for the whole conference was clear, warm and sunny which made for some relaxing moments during and after conference events.
The big day for Nexreg was the Friday (Sep 27) where we introduced our speaker Darren Dunn for the first time:
Darren Dunn is a chemical regulatory consultant at Nexreg Compliance, a company that offers worldwide chemical product regulatory services. These services include consulting on various regulations pertaining to product compliance, technical translations in a variety of languages, and the review of consumer product labels. Darren’s work focuses on Safety Data Sheet (SDS) authoring and label compliance in European, American, and Canadian jurisdictions. He is also a regular contributor and presenter on the Nexreg regulatory compliance Webinar series, speaking on a variety of topics.
Darren resides in the city of London, South Western Ontario Canada, where he received his Bachelor’s of Medical Sciences from the University of Western Ontario. He completed his honours degree specializing in cell biology and biochemistry. During his time at Western, he was involved in research surrounding a novel treatment method for Muscular Dystrophy. Darren continues to pursue his interests in the sciences, and refine his expertise in chemical product regulatory compliance through his work at Nexreg.
Darren presented a thorough update on GHS regulations in the United States and Canada that was well received by conference attendees, generating some lively discussion. Later, after a generous lunch buffet, the Nexreg team was asked to participate in a regulatory round table with a number of interested parties. The roundtable, moderated by Larry Beaver, produced and answered a number of questions that were of concern for the aerosol industry. The Nexreg team found the roundtable session to be both enlightening and challenging. Questions ranged from label compliance to conflict minerals to new VOC regulations. Discussion on these topics was open and informative with a bit of humor mixed in, thanks to excellent moderation from Larry Beaver.
The staff at Nexreg would like to thank the President and Board of Directors for welcoming us to this year’s SATA conference, and organising this great event.
