The California EPA’s OEHHA is requesting information as to whether the chemicals bromochloroacetic acid and cumene meet criteria for listing under Proposition 65. The NTP has findings which suggest both bromochloroacetic acid and cumene appear to cause cancer. OEHHA is requesting public comment regarding whether the two chemicals should meet the criteria set forth in the Proposition 65 regulations. Comments will be accepted until Tuesday, December 15, 2009, after which OEHHA will determine whether the chemicals meet the regulatory criteria for administrative listing. If the chemicals meet the listing criteria, OEHHA will publish a Notice of Intent to List.

OEHHA is also requesting the public provide information for evidence of carcinogenicity for the first 5 chemicals placed in the high priority category of the Carcinogen Identification Committee’s (CIC) list of 38 possible Prop 65 chemicals. These 5 chemicals are 3-Monochloropropane-1,2-diol, 1,3-Dichloro-2-propanol, Fluoride and its salts, Diisononyl phthalate (DINP), and Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and its salts and transformation and degradation precursors. This comment period will also end on Tuesday, December 15, 2009.
