In Japan the regulations covering the authoring of SDS’s fall under the National Standard JIS Z 7250:2005 (Safety Data Sheet for chemical products: Part 1 – Content and order of sections).

GHS Implementation Status
Hazardous chemicals and chemical mixtures that are used in the workplace are now expected to have SDS’s and labels prepared according to the GHS. The GHS is still only mandatory for certain hazardous chemicals.
