National Regulations Governing SDSs/MSDSs:
In Canada the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) sets out the criteria for SDS’s. The requirements and standards for WHMIS are set out in the Hazardous Products Act and Hazardous Products Regulations. The regulations are administered and monitored by the Government of Canada, Department of Health (Health Canada).
Products sold/used in Quebec must comply with the Charter of the French Language.
GHS Implementation Status:
Currently Canada GHS standards include WHMIS 2015.
Multi-Jurisdiction SDS/MSDS Options:
A Canadian MSDS may be combined with US regulations.
