The U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has approved a statement that provides guidance for manufactures, distributors, retailers, importers, and consumers of certain products that may contain the harmful organohalgen flame retardant (OFR).

To help protect both children and consumers from this toxic substances, the CPSC suggests that manufacturers of children’s products, mattresses, and plastic casings that surround electronics to stop using non-polymeric OFRs.

It is recommended by the CPSC that if importers or distributors are purchasing products that may contain OFRs, must be assured by the manufacturers that the products do not contain OFRs.
