In Turkey a non-Turkish importer must have a Turkish legal entity perform their compliance duties, this will require an importer to find a Turkish “Only Representative”. Turkey also has the following related to chemical management and safety:
- Chemical Control and Inventory directive
- Classification Labelling and Packaging of the dangerous chemicals and preparations
Both Directives came into force December 26, 2009.
Many aspects of the UN GHS have already been implemented in Turkey. The GHS Regulation came into force when The Turkey Gazette published the GHS Regulations with the set transitional periods in December 2014. The full implementation for the regulation is set for June 1 2016 for both Hazardous substances and mixtures.
