Past and Upcoming Deadlines for the California Cleaning Product Right to Know Act of 2017

California’s Cleaning Product Right to Know Act of 2017 (SB 258) applies to four categories of cleaning products. These “designated products” include air care products, automotive products, general cleaning products, and polishes or floor maintenance products, with some exceptions.

Website disclosure requirements under SB 258 came into effect January 1, 2020 for designated products sold on or after that date, in which manufacturers are required to disclose certain ingredients and their function on their website. Links to the product Safety Data Sheet and additional information sources are also required.

On-label ingredient disclosure is required for designated products on or after January 1, 2021, and Prop 65 label requirements are effective January 2, 2023.
