This news update regarding Risks of nanomaterials is brought to you by ECHA.

ECHA organises two day scientific workshop on regulatory challenges in risk assessment of nanomaterials. Over 200 experts from all over the world have gathered to Helsinki to discuss how to assess the risks of nanomaterials. The guests represent industry, academia, non-governmental organisations, national and international authorities.

This event is part of ECHA’s strategic objective to address scientific challenges by serving as a hub for building the scientific and regulatory capacity of Member States, European institutions and other actors.

The workshop aims to foster discussions among academia, regulators, industry and other stakeholders on the possible regulatory impacts that the latest scientific developments may have. An anticipated outcome of these workshops is the emergence of new or improved approaches, which may be applied in the implementation of the REACH, CLP and Biocidal Products Regulations.
The event is chaired by Wim De Coen, head of the ECHA’s executive office. The proceedings will be published after the event on ECHA’s web site.
