A Japanese government survey of chemical manufacturers, downstream users, and distributors has revealed that companies are not providing either Safety Data Sheets or Labels.

The survey highlighted  a list of common issues on the difficulties in providing compliant SDSs and Labels. They include:

    • Creating SDSs for mixtures in products

    • Creating separate SDSs for similar products

    • Translating those for imported products into Japanese.

Currently in Japan, 640 chemical substances subject to the SDS and labelling requirements under the Industrial Safety and Health Act.
