Good news for Korean companies – government assistance is now available to help them meet the EU’s deadlines for REACH. From Yonhap News:

The government said Thursday that it will help local companies meet the registration deadline for the European Union’s (EU) new chemical authorization program to prevent export disruptions.

The Ministry for Knowledge Economy said joint surveys conducted with the environmental ministry revealed that 64.4 percent of the 492 chemical companies likely to be affected were not prepared to submit papers.

“Of the total, 317 were not adequately prepared, and that could have an adverse effect on the country’s chemical exports to the EU, which topped US$2.1 billion in 2007,” said a ministry official.
