Canada is intending to publish a risk management for triclosan in November 2018. According to a spokesperson for both Environment and Climate change in Canada, a final instrument is expected by May 2020.

The newly revised version will incorporate the comments that were released in November of 2016. Canada let a risk assessment that stated triclosan was not harmful to human health, but is harmful to the environment.

The country has since restricted the use of triclosan in cosmetics and natural health products. This assessment identifies the release of triclosan to surface water via the wastewater treatment plant waste from the use of such products as the exposure of concern.
