India SDS MSDS Authoring

India’s much anticipated National Chemicals Policy has been put on further delay.

The policy, which was first drawn up in 2012, was released in January 2014 and industry then began pushing the government for finalization, but no further action was taken until late 2015. The goals of the new National Chemicals Policy include:

–          Controlling the robust framework in promoting the security and safety of chemical facilities.

–          Rationalization of statutory regulations in India.

The new final draft was completed and was expected to be heard by India’s Cabinet in June 2015, has yet to be released.

There has also been little progress made on the Chemical Inventory Initiative, which is a major part of the National Chemicals Policy. The first draft of this inventory contained 4,600 substances was submitted to India’s export agency, has not been pushed forward since.
